How much time commitment is involved?
How much time you put into this is up to you. We estimate for most members this will take about an hour a week. Phone calls only take a minute or two. We will also schedule meet ups with each other and with our representatives.
Do I have to care about every issue?
If you don’t agree with an issue that appears on this group or the Voters For Accountability website, obviously ignore the request to call those legislators. Not everyone may feel as passionate about some issues than others. Our philosophy is that we have a much stronger voice together–I’ll call for your issue if you call for mine.
I am an introvert and you expect me to do what?
If you do not feel comfortable meeting in person, that’s okay, you can pick up the phone. The offices of our Representatives have staff ready to record our opinions. We have found they take our criticism with a smile. After a couple of calls you will realize how simple and quick it is. Some of our founding members are extreme introverts and we have been doing this. You can too!
Why?
With the arrival of the new Trump administration many dramatic changes to our country are possible. The members of this group are opposed to many of the fundamental values, or lack thereof, that will power this administration. This group is for those of us who wish to “do something.”
Okay, I signed up. What else can I do?
Go to our links page. There you will find a list of charities and other organizations committed to the our same principles. You can get involved with them as well. Find the website for your member of Congress and sign up for their newsletter. Join our Facebook group and get to know the other members. Recruit! Send like minded friends our way. We are stronger with more voices.
